It's definitely the best breakfast in the 2 weeks we have been here. Frankly, some of the best food period. The salsa and pico are fantastic! My arrachera tacos were cooked perfectly. Even the burger my kids had was great. Would highly recommend.

my experience with this restaurant was a 9 out of 10. the food was great. i had the papadzules and my wife had the salbutes. the papadzules had great flavor, not spicy. the salbutes were also great and delicious. the reason why i dont give this place a place a 10/10 is because our server wasnt really helpful. other than that, you have to come try this place out.

El Trapiche in Centro: my husband’s favorite meal in Merida was here! So nice we ate there twice! We stopped in El Trapiche for lunch one Saturday in February and sat at a table by the window to watch the world go by. We were hungry after exploring the main square area, and this place really hit the spot! The server was so nice and even took the time to explain the daily specials to us. We must have been hungry because I forgot to take photos of the meal, but I had the chicken special that came with all the “fixins” including warm tortillas and delicious Jamaica (hibiscus) tea, all for 105 MEX. My husband had a huge, delicious portion of vegetarian enchiladas that was full of veggies and good stuff. They know how to take good care of vegetarians here! Later in the week, we stopped in for a quick pasta dinner, and of course Jamaica tea, and that was good too. The menu is extensive, the service is friendly, the prices are very reasonable, and the place seems clean. They accept credit cards too. Check it out!

Best tacos I’ve had in Mexico so far!! Wow!! The salsa is the perfect amount of spicy-hot and the flavors are amazing. Beef is cooked perfectly and the tortillas are fresh. Service is good.

Genuinely excellent food, soupa de lima a highlight for me. Portion sizes are generous and we definitely over ordered, but not an issue as the prices are kind.

Loved this little place! Came starving and was supplied with an infinite amount of salsas and tortilla chips, followed by excellent local food (try the Sopa de Lima!). The hospitality of the staff is amazing.

Came to this place for lunch on a recommendation of a friend. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff were friendly and welcoming. There were so many good things to choose from and it was all delicious. For so much food the prices were great. Only wish I could have tried more of the items on their menu. Highly recommend this place to try.

After a long day of exploring the Centro Historico, I stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and relaxed. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting, the perfect respite after a day of walking. As for the food, I ordered the traditional cochinita pibil tacos and they were absolutely an experience. The meat was cooked to perfection, tender. I personally would have loved more seasoning on the meat; however, what elevated tacos apart were the salsas. The pico de gallo was fresh and spicy, while the red and green salsas added a nice depth of flavor. I couldn't get enough of them! I also had the sopa de Lima and it was good. Overall, my experience at this restaurant was positive and satisfying. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was just what I needed to wind down after a busy day. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking it out!

Welcome to El Trapiche, a gem nestled in the vibrant heart of Merida, Mexico. Located on C. 62 in the Centro district, this restaurant offers a delightful dining experience that has won over the hearts of both locals and visitors alike. With its reputation for serving some of the best breakfast and traditional Mexican dishes in the area, El Trapiche is a must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic flavors.

When you step inside El Trapiche, you are immediately welcomed by a warm atmosphere and friendly service. Juan Cervantes, a satisfied guest, raved about their excellent tacos de arrachera, highlighting the perfectly cooked beef that accompanied a vibrant salsa and pico de gallo. It’s these thoughtful touches that elevate every dish to an experience.

Another diner, Jesse J, praised the papadzules and salbutes during his visit. The flavors of the papadzules are delicately balanced—mild yet rich—making them a perfect choice for those seeking comfort in their meal. Notably, Jesse also pointed out a minor hiccup with the service, a reminder that even the best places can have moments of imperfection. Still, with the quality of the food on offer, this detour was hardly a dealbreaker.

For those that enjoy a leisurely lunch, El Trapiche’s welcoming atmosphere is complemented by its extensive menu. Patty, a repeat visitor, shared her delight at the chicken special that came with warm tortillas and refreshing hibiscus tea. The vegetarian enchiladas were equally praised for their generous portions and rich flavors, making it a haven for vegetarians. Such variety ensures that every guest can find a dish that resonates with them.

The overall consensus among diners, including Liam Collett, is that El Trapiche offers more than just good food—it provides a feeling of home. The deliciously rich *sopa de lima* stands out as a highlight, with generous portions that encourage you to sample a broader array of menu items without breaking the bank. The reasonable prices affirm that quality and affordability can indeed coexist.

As your food reviewer for Res Menu, I wholeheartedly recommend El Trapiche. Whether you're a breakfast enthusiast or looking to indulge in traditional Yucatecan cuisine, this restaurant promises a satisfying and flavorful experience. So, gather your friends or family, pull up a chair, and prepare to enjoy a meal that celebrates the spirit of Mexico, one delicious plate at a time.
